Editorial
On the Horizon
Susan Jackson Dowd,
PW Communications Coordinator
You may have noticed that, for the last several issues, this
space has not always been filled by an editorial but with informational
material about Presbyterian Women, its programs and its publication.
The decision to alter the content of Perspectives was the temporary
result of a staff and workflow reorganization begun more than
one year ago. The plan for reorganization was designed and implemented
by a task group and consultants appointed by PW/CCT. Please bear
with us once again for a little more explanation and some well-deserved
thanks.
The reorganization affects the way Horizons will be governed
in the future. Presbyterian Women is the publisher of Horizons.
The publication is editorially independent.
A Horzons Editorial Committee has been established to
provide the PW Communication Office staff with support and advice
on the interpretation of editorial policy; editorial themes and
content; and other concerns related to magazine publication.
This nine-member committee, comprised of communication professionals,
church professionals, CCT members and other PW representatives,
will have the first of its biannual meetings with staff at the
end of March in Louisville, Kentucky.
In keeping with the forward-looking spirit of Presbyterian Women,
this column has been renamed On the Horizon. Trusting that God
is ever present with us in our work in this time and place, our
prayer remains that God will challenge us to look beyond the
struggles and successes of today, that Horizons might
continue to inspire, inform and educate Presbyterian Women for
tomorrow.
The Reorganization Task Group has completed its work. On behalf
of Presbyterian Women and its Churchwide Coordinating Team, PW
staff offers thanks for prayerful work well done to
