Fellowship of the Least Coin

The Fellowship of the Least Coin (FLC) is a worldwide ecumenical movement of prayer for peace and reconciliation, celebrated in more than 80 countries. Through this movement, Christian women around the world seek fellowship with each other as they contribute the least coin of their monetary systems.
Each year, 35 to 50 projects are given grants through the Fellowship of the Least Coin. The funds are administered and grants are determined by an international committee made up of representatives from ecumenical organizations and the Asian Church Women's Conference. In allocating grants, the committee seeks to support

· opportunities for awareness-raising and/or educating women on gender issues
· programs of literacy, health, social concerns and leadership development
· programs enhancing justice, peace and reconciliation for women and families, communities, countries and the world
· opportunities for women to meet ecumenically in regional, national and worldwide gatherings

Regional Women's Desks of Ecumenical Conferences, the Women's Desk of the World Council of Churches and the World Day of Prayer International Committee are given block grants to enhance their work and to strengthen ecumenical solidarity. Emergency grants for disaster relief and rehabilitation are also given.

Budget for the Year 2001
Project Grants $150,000
Block Grants $120,000
Emergency Grants $10,000
Program and Administration $91,000
Contingency $2,000

Try This!
Consider using the following prayer when collecting the least coins at your circle, presbytery or synod meeting.

O Loving Creator, we present ourselves in your divine presence to thank you for all the bountiful gifts
of life. We are especially grateful for the Fellowship of the Least Coin which binds us together in love and forgiveness around the globe. Free us from all doubts and prejudices, we pray. Inspire us to live
in solidarity with humankind that we may know the joy of giving and receiving.

Dear God, accept this least coin as a token of love. Make us mindful of the miracles of these coins. Let us honor your creation with love, as shown through the life, death and resurrection of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
