Thank Offering

2002
(Including Health Ministries)

Since 1888, Presbyterian Women have funded countless projects and medical/health missions through the Thank Offering (including Health Ministries). Grants support new and creative projects that meet the needs of hurting people-the aging, the disabled, the homeless, refugees, children, youth, and women-through educational, health, and peace and justice programs. In 2002, the Creative Ministries Offering Committee of PW selected 60 projects with grants totaling more than $930,000-at least 40 percent used to support health ministries throughout the world. The 2002 Thank Offering (including Health Ministries) allocations are listed below

Thank Offering 2002
(Including Health Ministries)

Grant Recipients

The Creative Ministries Offering Committee met in March 2002, and approved grants totaling over $930,000 from the 2001 Thank Offering (including Health Ministries). Grant recipients were chosen by the nine-member committee---six members of the Churchwide Coordinating Team of Presbyterian Women and one representative from each of the General Assembly Council's three ministry divisions-Congregational, National and Worldwide. This year, 60 recipients were chosen from 159 proposals submitted.

There are 14 criteria that must be met including being consistent with the mission concerns and policies of the PC(USA), having a purpose that meets crucial needs and providing a new effort or a new direction for an existing program. Programs are chosen based on merit, regardless of geographic locations. At least 40 percent of the Thank Offering (including Health Ministries) funds go to health-related projects.
