Living Simply in a Complex World

By Patricia McBee

This is a love story. A story about love of my child and grandchildren, love of my fellow human beings in this large neighborhood known as planet earth and love of the natural world which sustains us all. It is a story of a woman learning to love more fully and struggling daily with the cultural pulls to ignore what love demands. Like most true stories, it is a story of success and failure, triumph and confusion, unfolding lessons and the grace of God.

How do I leave a world for my child and my grandchildren (and yours) that is as rich and beautiful and sustaining as the world into which I was born? How do I love my neighbor, the woman who sewed my blouse in China or the man who harvested my coffee in Columbia? How do I cry out against the poisoning of my
mother earth at whose breast I am nourished?
