Dispatch from Forbearance Presbyterian Church

A Joyful Noise
by Charlotte Johnstone

When Rev. Hustisford scheduled an adult education hour following a recent Sunday service, he didn't know quite what to expect. The subject was the imminent vote to be taken by the presbytery on Amendment 01-A, which seeks to overturn Section G-6.0106b of the Book of Order-a section on human sexuality that excludes gays and lesbians from ordained office in the church-and he knew it was not a subject that everyone in the church wanted to talk about. Some were weary of the whole thing, some were indifferent, and the rest were at odds with each other over what the presbytery should do. After all, they had been wrestling with this controversy since early last year.

How will Forbearance members deal with this controversial subject? Order this issue of Horizons issue to see.
