Gathering
Calling Presbyterian Women
to Awaken to God's Vision for Us
by Betty Bryan
 For the first time, Presbyterian
Women is making Gathering registration available via the Internet.
As easy to use as the PW Web site, online forms will allow you
to begin making plans to attend the Gathering with just a few
keystrokes. This doesn't mean participants can't register in
a more traditional way---registration will still be available
by mail or by fax---but online registration is just a taste of
the technological advancements that await you at the 2003 Churchwide
Gathering of Presbyterian Women.
Knowing that not everyone has access to a computer or the Internet,
if you do, why not consider having a Gathering registration party?
You could invite members of your circle (or all the women in
your church!) and together brave the mysteries of the Worldwide
Web. Or ask your pastor or church secretary if you can register
using a computer in the church office. If neither of those options
works for you, check with your local library or high school,
many of which have computers available for free community use.
While you're online, don't forget
to make your hotel reservations. You can check out the hotel
options and prices, and in some cases see pictures of the hotel
rooms available. Plus, you'll receive immediate confirmation
of your selection and reservation. Of course, you may also phone
the housing bureau or mail in the form you will receive in the
registration confirmation packet. Please note: the housing bureau
oversees hotel convention rates, so do not contact hotels directly.
A credit card will guarantee your hotel reservation and simplify
your stay.
It is to your advantage to register early to attend the 2003
Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women, but not before registration
officially opens on January 15, 2003. Once your registration
is received, you will be sent a confirmation packet. Return your
Afternoon Opportunities selections from that packet before May
1, and your nametag, workshop/tour tickets and tote bag coupon
will be mailed to you. Another first for this Gathering: weekend
registrations (Friday through Sunday). Participants may register
using any of the registration options available to full-time
registrants.
Registration confirmation packets will provide all the necessary
information regarding travel to and from the airport, and around
Louisville. For those arriving early, pre-Gathering activities
will be available after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9.
Be sure to read all materials sent to you once you've begun your
registration process. Participants will receive information prior
to arriving in Louisville. All of the information sent to you
will help make your Gathering experience more enjoyable.
See you soon---on the Web, in the mail, by fax, by plane, train,
bus or car---at the Gathering!

Your Gathering registration form is inserted in the Sep/Oct
issue Horizons.
For additional forms
· call Presbyterian Distribution Service (PDS)
800/524-2612, #CWG-03-005
· ask your moderator of Presbyterian Women in
the Presbytery
· make copies of the form in this issue
Be sure to watch for your first
issue of the Gathering newspaper---Daily Horizons---part of your
registration confirmation packet.
Make a gift of the Gathering!
Consider giving a youth or young adult a trip to the 2003 Churchwide
Gathering of Presbyterian Women as a Christmas, graduation, or
"just because" gift.
Looking for a roommate? You're not the only one. Many Gathering
participants are interested in finding a roommate for their stay
in Louisville, but it's up to each woman to find her own housing
companion. If you need help, contact your Presbytery and/or Synod
PW Moderator. She may know someone in your region who also wants
to
share a room.
Kathryn Baker is a member of the Arrangements
Committee for the 2003 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women.
She lives in Ontario, Oregon.
