Different Perspectives on the Women of What She Said

by Stephanie Morris and Leah Ellison Bradley

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But the art chosen each year to
accompany the Horizons Bible study is chosen not only because it is beautiful—it must also be thought-provoking, illustrative of the author’s message and a fresh approach to an often familiar subject: scripture. Still, no image can be all things to all people. That’s why we’re providing these additional, different perspectives on the women profiled in this year’s Bible study, What She Said: Quotable Women in Scripture.

One of the amazing things about art is its ability to convey so much in so little space. The author of the Bible study uses approximately 2,000 words for each lesson she writes. The artist uses one image. Yet for someone who is open to and moved by art, that one image may say more—and say it more succinctly—than any words could.

Stephanie Morris is the designer for Presbyterian Women. Leah Bradley is the senior associate editor for Presbyterian Women.
