About This Issue
Peace
Congratulations! You are witnessing a landmark event in the life of this magazine—an issue filled with articles simultaneously published in four women's denominational magazines (see details on our inside front cover).
This is our most ecumenical effort to date, but it's not our first and it won't be our last. Presbyterian Women has always known that anything worth achieving—including, and perhaps especially, peace—cannot be achieved alone. From least coins to mosquito nets, small group Bible studies to the Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women, great things have been accomplished in community with others. So, whom will you partner with to act on what you read in this issue?

How to Use This Magazine
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned
and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime
participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are
scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes
entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders,
both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants
in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation,
community and world-so we work to include ways you can respond
to what you read in Horizons.
The purpose of Horizons magazine is the same as the purpose
of our publisher, Presbyterian Women:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ
and empowered by the Holy Spirit
we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible
study
- to support the mission of the church worldwide
- to work for justice and peace
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses
to the promise of God's kingdom
