Market-39428—that was my childhood phone number. This, the first phone number I ever memorized, springs to mind as quickly as my name does, but phone numbers, PIN numbers, codes and passwords that I need on a daily basis befuddle me. Life on the information super highway—with immense amounts of data that needs to be sorted and stored—sometimes leaves me looking for a detour back to simpler times! Most of us have walked into a room, but forgotten why, or met someone and not been able to recall her name within minutes. Occasional forgetfulness is common and inevitable, but severe memory lapses may be a sign of a serious problem and should not be ignored.
