In the Beginning
Perspectives on Genesis

Celia Brewer Sinclair
Suggestions for Leaders
Kikanza Nuri Robins

In the Beginning examines familiar stories from the book of Genesis from a fresh point of view. This study also calls attention to parts of Genesis that are less familiar, characters who have been ignored, and voices that have been muted, if not outright silenced.

Genesis is filled with accounts of relationships, and so is this Bible study—relationships between women, between wives and husbands, between mothers and children. Just as each character in the book of Genesis brings a unique perspective to the story, it's understood that each person using this study brings an outlook, a context, and a history that is uniquely her own. In the Beginning celebrates this diversity and the gifts that come form varied and distinct points of view.

Every Horizons Bible study is created to stand alone—providing everything a leader and/or participant needs to use that study.

But Presbyterian Women recognizes that its studies are used by wide variety of women—first-time leaders and long-time leaders, brand new Presbyterians and life-long Bible study participants. Those new to Bible study may be looking for tips on how to present. Experienced leaders may be tired of using the same presentation style. With that in mind, it's not surprising when Bible study leaders say, "We need more help!" And that's what this resource intends to provide. More ideas. More approaches. More resources. More options. More ways to make the most of the best-selling resource in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
