About
this Issue:
Finding Meaning and Attaining Balance
If only I could tell you that the articles
in this issue contained all the answers needed to find meaning
and attain balance in your life. But such an issue would extend
well beyond our 40 pages and might never be ready for publication,
because the answers are different for each of us and the meaning
and balance we seek may change on a daily basis. Are you in need
of more time? More silence? A deeper relationship with God? With
yourself? With others? Do you need to become more serious about
what you believe? Or take a lighter approach to life?
Finding meaning and attaining balance
is an ongoing quest, for which there is no set path. However,
our hope is that the simple exploration of several paths that
have led the writers in this issue to deeper meaning and a sense
of balance in their own lives might somehow bring a semblance
of the same to you.
Our model is Susan Abraham from the
Office of the Director of Ecumenical Partnerships, Worldwide
Ministries Division, PC(USA).

Our Purpose
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned
and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime
participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are
scattered throughout the magazine---in sidebars, boxes and sometimes
entire articles---because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders,
both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants
in Presbyterian Women are also active---in their congregation,
community and world-so we work to include ways you can respond
to what you read in Horizons.
The purpose of Horizons magazine is the same as the purpose
of our publisher, Presbyterian Women:
--to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
--to support the mission of the church worldwide
--to work for justice and peace
--to build an inclusive, caring community of women that
strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to
the promise of God's kingdom
