About this Issue
Who Is My Neighbor?
In our increasingly globalized
world, the definition of "neighbor" is forever evolving.
For Presbyterian Women, such evolution is welcome, as new neighbors
mean new opportunities for exploring faith, supporting mission,
working for justice and peace, and witnessing to the promise
of God's kingdom. Much like the publications that preceded Horizons
magazine---when Presbyterian women began publishing tracts, leaflets
and newsletters more than 130 years ago---this issue of Horizons
is intended to connect Presbyterian women with the faces and
stories of neighbors they might not otherwise encounter.

How to Use This Magazine
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned
and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime
participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are
scattered throughout the magazine---in sidebars, boxes and sometimes
entire articles---because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders,
both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants
in Presbyterian Women are also active---in their congregation,
community and world-so we work to include ways you can respond
to what you read in Horizons.
The purpose of Horizonsmagazine is the same as the purpose
of our publisher, Presbyterian Women:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ
and empowered by the Holy Spirit
we commit ourselves:
to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace,
to build an inclusive, caring community of women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.
