About This Issue
Beloved Strangers:
Christian Faith in a Pluralistic World
The gospel calls Christians to live in community with every neighbor, friend, acquaintance and stranger alike. As the world grows continually smaller and religious landscapes shift, neighbors become more and more diverse in faith traditions and ideologies. What guidance for living faithfully in this quickly changing world do Christians have? How is God calling us to respond? The articles in this issue of Horizons offer some biblical, theological, spiritual and practical answers to these questions.

How to Use This Magazine
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned
and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime
participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are
scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes
entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders,
both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants
in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation,
community and world-so we work to include ways you can respond
to what you read in Horizons.
The purpose of Horizons magazine is the same as the purpose
of our publisher, Presbyterian Women:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ
and empowered by the Holy Spirit
we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible
study
- to support the mission of the church worldwide
- to work for justice and peace
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses
to the promise of God's kingdom
