Many people—even well-intended and compassionate people— would identify the first as trafficked and view the second as a prostitute. The young girl from Asia clearly is an innocent victim. While the American teenager may elicit our sympathy, we reason that nobody is forcing her to the street. This response is understandable, but the truth is that both girls are victims of sex trafficking—not only in reality, but according to the law.
