About This Issue
Bridges Between Generations

Cultivating relationships between people from various generations is one of the most exciting challenges facing churches and church groups today. Whether the optimistic faith of a child, the searching faith of youth and young adults, teh persevering faith of those in midlife, or the reflective faith of the wise in years, recognizing the gifts and graces of everyone in the body of Christ leads to a fuller understanding of who we are as Christ's church together. We hope the reflections and resources in this issue of Horizons will encourage you to reach out to people in your community from various generations.

How to Use This Magazine

Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders, both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation, community and world—so we work to include ways you can respond to what you read in Horizons.

The purpose of Horizons magazine is the same as the purpose of our publisher, Presbyterian Women:

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves:

  • to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
  • to support the mission of the church worldwide
  • to work for justice and peace
  • to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom
