A grandmother and grandchild in Tollygunge, south of Kolkata. Grab a cup of tea and settle in for your virtual trip to India! In 2011, 23 Presbyterian Women and 4 PW and PC(USA) staff travelled to India for PW’s triennial Global Exchange. They were a delegation committed to learning and experiencing all they could about India. This issue of Horizons unpacks the cultural, religious and environmental issues they encountered and the relationships they built with Indian sisters and brothers during the 17-day trip. In the following pages, you’ll find articles by PW’s Indian hosts about the most pressing issues facing the faithful in India, interspersed with reflections by the Global Exchange participants about their most poignant experiences on this journey of worldwide community building.
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders, both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation, community and world—so we work to include ways you can respond to what you read in Horizons. Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves:
