Theology . . . the study of God . . . such a big topic that has been the subject of a seemingly infinite number of debates, books, pamphlets, wermons and musings (and a few wars) throughout recorded history. Theology is also a topic that sends some of us into retreat, mumbling, "Well, no one would call me a theologian; I've never been to seminary!" But as the authors in the following pages prove, as people of faith who are in relationship—if not constant conversation—with God, we are all theologians. We each share an evolving sense of God, and hone our own understanding of theology from reading scripture, praying during a retreat, meeting a new friend during a mission project, or even encountering the sacred in our everyday choires. As Christians, every time we take time to study God's Word, we mature a little in our own understanding of God and God's vision for all of creation.
Horizons is the magazine of Presbyterian Women. It is planned and designed for individuals and PW circles, newcomers and longtime participants in the organization. You'll notice resources are scattered throughout the magazine—in sidebars, boxes and sometimes entire articles—because Presbyterian Women is made up of leaders, both current leaders and women with leadership potential. Participants in Presbyterian Women are also active—in their congregation, community and world—so we work to include ways you can respond to what you read in Horizons.
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit we commit ourselves:
